The New Roost

Happy Valentine's Day!  I didn't get a bouquet of flowers...which is fine because then I would have to dig  through 52 boxes looking for a jar.

Justin and I got something even better.  Which will make this V day one that we won't ever forget.

We let go of one house, and we begin a new chapter of our lives.

Friends, please meet our (official) new home.

She (yes, it's another girl) is a 1959 brick ranch.  The outside is charming. As far as we can tell... Thanks to Michigan's cozy 16" blanket of snow, we've only seen her looking like this.

This house is everything we asked for.  When we first sat down with our realtor 12 months ago, we described our ideal home.  A list of "must haves" that could not be compromised with:
  • 1960's ranch - brick would be ideal
  • Minimum of 1,600 sq ft (although this would increase over our time of searching)
  • Full basement
  • Great schools
  • Mature neighborhood
  • Privacy
  • 2+ Full bathrooms
  • 3+ Bedrooms
  • 2 Car attached garage
  • Large lot
  • Quiet street
  • Good investment with lots of potential
  • Close freeway access
This house is the ONLY house we ever looked at that checked off every single one of our must-haves.

And it even checked off all of our "would-be-nice-to-haves":
  • Hardwood floors
  • Sunroom
  • Master en suite bathroom
  • Gas stove
I'm so happy we waited.  We've walked through tons of houses, and not one of them measured up to this one.  Don't worry if you can't see the potential.  Because I'll show you the potential...just give me a few months.

I can't wait to make this rancher our new home.  Once we start to unpack the boxes, I'll tell you all about our plans.  We will start the renovations right away - the first ones on the list will probably be the most dramatic!  Can't wait to share the details with you all.

Mary
