Losing My Mind...and an Engagement Shoot!

How often do you misplace things? Is it often, or a rare occassion when you find that your keys have gone missing or an earring has gone astry?

I don't lose things.  Okay, maybe a sock that seems to had been eaten by the dryer.  But other than that, I never lose things.  It seems though, that when I do lose an item it's always a rather large loss.

My first memory of losing something was on my first communion.  My Aunt gave me a gift of beautiful gold bow earrings with my birthstone in the center.  I was so excited to own something so beautiful that I couldn't wait to wear them.  Not 12 hours later, I lost one.  My mom and I searched the entire house for days looking for the gold bow earring.  It was never recovered.  But I kept that other earring for 10 years...just in case.

Maybe it was this one event that taught me a few lessons.  If you're always organized, you'll always know where everything is.  Oh, and never wear earrings to bed.

I always know where my keys are - in the mason jar on the bookshelf where I put them every day.  My credit card is always back in the same spot in my wallet.  And my camera is always sitting in my office.

Something weird has happened in the last 3 months and I've become someone who loses things.  I've misplaced my keys, a credit card and a camera.

My keys went first.  I locked my car, set my keys in the house, and then they were gone.  That's why the dealership gives you two sets of keys, right??

Then, the following month, I misplaced my credit card.  I used it on October 1st to pay for lunch...and then it vanished.  Never to be seen again.

And then, the "big" one and one of the reasons why I haven't posted on my blog in sooooo long.  I misplaced my camera.  Maybe a month ago.. Or maybe two months.

It's not an easy one to lose.  I have a Canon Digital SLR, so it's rather large.  I bought it 5 years ago and, lately, I use it solely for taking pictures of projects.  So it never leaves the house.

My house is mostly organized.  I say mostly because I am still working on getting the second bedroom together (remember when I updated on our second bedroom way back here).  I've been distracted.  But it's not like there are piles of junk...it's just a bunch of pillows thrown on the bed and a few mirrors that are still looking for a home.

There doesn't seem to be a stray camera in the pile of pillows.

I guess I should admit that my clothes closet has gotten a little out of hand.  It's small, but it could use some organizing.

The thought of adding pictures of my twinkling Christmas Tree from my iPhone makes me sad.  So I'll be spending the next 15 days before Christmas looking for a camera.

On a happier note, have you seen the pictures from our engagement shoot? We just had our pictures taken yesterday.  And our amazing photographer, Evie & Jr Photography, has already uploaded sneak peeks!  I'll wait until we get all of our pictures to share more info.  In the meantime, please check out her website.  Our photographer, Mary (great name, right), just moved back from sunny California and had no problem hanging out with us for four hours in the 20 degree snowy weather.

We had a blast hanging out with Mary. She was able to make us look pretty natural in front of a camera (which is incredible in itself). I am just amazed with her talent, and so thankful that we found her.

And we both love her style of photography!

She captured us perfectly and I can't wait to see what else she comes up with.

We also booked Evie and Jr. Photography for our wedding.  Which I'm very excited about...why?? Have you seen what she can do with the sun?!  Check out her website for a few reference shots :)

Well, I'm off to organize my closet.

xoxo
Mary
